Let Justice be Done

Michael McCusker

FOR CRIMINAL COURT DIVISION III

LET JUSTICE BE DONE

“ ‘Let Justice Be Done, Though the Heavens May Fall’ - It is from this favorite legal maxim that I derive the theme of my campaign Let Justice Be Done. In essence, that singular phrase sums up my reason for running. A judge must follow the law, ensure equal protection, and be ready to make the tough decisions that are required by the law. I am running for judge to ensure that the constitutional rights of both victims and the accused are secured through due process of law.”

Determined

Throughout his life, Michael has demonstrated a determination that will serve him well as a Judge. Growing up in a single parent household during some of the most formative years of his life and faced with the reality that his father could not afford to send him to college, Michael determined the course of his life by enlisting in the United States Army at the age of seventeen. From that time forward, Michael continually faced challenges with head-on determination. For twenty-two years, he proudly served his nation in the United States Army Reserves and the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Dedicated

Michael has always given of himself in a life marked by service. Whether serving in the Army for twenty-two years or as an Assistant District Attorney for more than twenty years, Michael has demonstrated a dedication to service that is unparalleled. His service, though, goes far beyond the battlefield and the courtroom.

Decorated

Michael has led a life and career marked by excellence. From the 1985 Tennessee State History Bowl Champion, to earning his Eagle Scout Award the next year, or his multiple military decorations, including the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medals for his service in Afghanistan, to being named the West Tennessee Prosecutor of the Year, Michael has continuously achieved the highest standards in his personal, professional, and military roles. He will bring that same commitment when serving on the bench as Judge of Shelby County Criminal Court Division III.
